A New Cancer Centre
Investing in the Future of Merseyside and Cheshire

What Will These Proposals Mean for Wirral and Cheshire Patients?

The new cancer centre will be developed in addition to continued provision of outpatient services in Wirral, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy and proton therapy.

The proposal is designed to ensure cancer services for the people of Cheshire, Merseyside and beyond are world class and of the highest possible quality, enhance patient experience and improve outcomes all for patients.

For the first time the region will have expert clinical services, surgery, inpatient oncology, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, critical care, outpatient services and enhanced research and development with clinical trials all on one site.

All inpatient beds will be located at the new Liverpool site. The majority of Wirral and West Cheshire patients will continue to receive the same outpatient cancer treatment services currently provided by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, along with access to additional benefits which the new cancer centre will bring.
